B5 is necessary for every cell in the organism and is essential for proper digestion.
PABA and choline are not utilised unless B5is present.
Pantothenic acid can give protection from the destruction of proteins, dropping blood sugar and blood pressure and calcium being lost from the bones.
B5 prevents premature aging, wrinkly skin and baldness.
It gives some protection from antibiotics by reducing the toxic effects, as well as with radiation. It has beneficial effects on those with hypoglycaemia, anaemia, epilepsy, insomnia, arthritis, asthma, cancer and TB.
B5 stimulates the organism to utilise fats. B5 also stimulates the adrenal glands. At a threatening infection the lymph nodes decrease in size, except when there is a lack of B5.
This causes the adrenals to become exhausted and the lymph nodes and glands enlarge and become infected.
Toxic effects: - Never toxic, but excessive B5 over a long period may increase the need for B1 and possibly cause neuritis.
B5 is unstable at high temperatures, therefore canning and over-cooking will destroy it.
